The Spanish-French fashion company Balenciaga has been highly criticized lately for a controversial ad campaign they launched containing small children and S&M adult toys. Celebrities like Kim Kardashian and Jelena Djokovic among many others have decided to boycott the fashion brand.

Balenciaga has now responded to critics and blames its production company for the whole mess and has decided to sue them in court.

In some sort of damage control way, Balenciaga now suddenly claims that they are not responsible for the ad campaign and lays the whole blame on the production company they work with, North Six, Inc. and its agent Nicholas Des Jardins, and are demanding $25 million in compensation.

Many critics on the other hand, among them NewsJive.com, wonder how it is possible for Balenciaga not to check what kind of ad campaigns they approve in the first place before they launch them?

“How could this setup be approved in the first place”, wrote Novak Djokovic’s wife Jelena Djokovic in a Instagram message, criticizing Balenciaga for allegedly promoting pedophilia and child pornography, Sportskeeda reports.

According to The Fashion Law, it’s unclear what specific claims Balenciaga is making in connection to the lawsuit. What is clear, is that none of the photographers in either campaign have been named as defendants in the lawsuit.

The photographer Gabriele Galimberti, who took the photos, issued a statement saying, “I am not in a position to comment on Balenciaga’s decisions, but I must emphasize that I had no right to choose the products, the models, or the combination of them”, nssmag.com reports.
